The Animated Series' Creator Has Seen Fans' Second Season Bingo Cards — With Some Good News

The much-anticipated second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform this week, and audience theories has been intense.

The first season presents a large cast of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.

The community's expectations for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?

"Naturally, I don't make the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner stated recently. "But I feel like me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

She reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.

That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds now.

"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."

The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.

"I've come across a couple people make a bingo card about season 2," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."

Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
